As an individual member of the National Network of Abortion Funds and monthly donor to Planned Parenthood, as a faith leader, doula, feminist, future parent and human being, I believe that access to:
safe, effective, and comprehensive
birth control and family planning,
emergency contraceptives,
perinatal care,
gender-affirming hormone treatment/surgeries,
abortion care,
and all forms of reproductive healthcare
is a human right.
God calls us to value bodily autonomy, to protect other humans from violation and needless suffering, to respect that all bodies are valuable because they are made in God’s image, and to work for a world where all children are born to parents who deeply want them, love them, and are able to care for them. Jesus never said that abortion was wrong. But he did say that condemnation, judgement, and oppression were wrong.
Feeling disheartened by so many recent attempts by politicians, justices and religious leaders to take away these rights, I decided to start making these “I asked God; she’s pro-choice" buttons based off one that a friend found for me years ago at a thrift store in Minnesota. I’m selling them now through word-of-mouth and social media to remind us that reproductive justice is a faith value.
I purchase all my own supplies to print these buttons (the button maker itself is shared); the $5 you send covers the cost of shipping, and the rest of the proceeds go to the National Network of Abortion Funds, or directly to an individual fund.
